On Sunday evening, April 27, 2008, she transitioned into peace following her courageous battle with cancer. She was born to Venetia (Williams) and Rosenwald Allen in Gary, IN. She joined First Baptist Church in Gary and was baptized at an early age. Rose graduated from Horace Mann High School, Lincoln University with a B.S. in Education, and Ball State with a Masters in Social Work. She met Kenneth Couch at Lincoln University and they later married. From their union two precious sons Kenyatta and Kareem were born.
Rosemary loved life! To say she was very active is an understatement. She loved to learn and she explored everything from belly dancing, to jewelry making, to every type of religion and she made sure she exposed her sons to all that life has to offer. She traveled extensively and was committed to every organization that she was associated with which included the Book Club, Ski Club, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. Rose’s achievements and memberships in organizations are too lengthy to list! Rosemary also gave of herself unselfishly. She tutored and mentored teens and touched more lives with her unique style of counseling than she will ever realize. Rosemary was dedicated to her family and her friends. She attended as many birthday parties, concerts, programs, Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas celebrations, and card parties as she could. She was in Gary and Chicago as often as she was in L.A. When she left Chicago she knew no one in L.A. and when she left L.A. there was no one that did not know her. Double Click below to start video
